Develop Healthy Habits With Our Workout Accountability Challenge - The Personal Growth Channel

Develop Healthy Habits With Our Workout Accountability Challenge

Designed to reinforce healthy habits by making a game out of getting fit, our workout challenge is super simple.
  1. Work out three days a week and submit a picture or video to prove it.
  2. Earn points as you work out each week. Work out consistently for the entire month to win!*
Get started for as little as $10 by choosing your accountability level below. Entry fees go into a pot which is then credited back to those who complete the challenge. The higher level you select, the more money you can win by completing the challenge, but the more you stand to lose if you don't. Pick a level that scares you a little!

Accountability Level

Note: All entries must be in by February 3rd to participate in the February challenge. Challenges start the first Monday of the month.

What Do I Win?

You can win more money than you put in by completing the challenge for the month. This is done by crediting winners with a portion of the money lost from those who fail to complete the challenge. You will also earn a portion of your entry fee back each week that you complete the challenge, so if one week is a bust you don't lose your entire entry fee.

For example, here is what things might look like if Mary & Fred don't fully complete the challenge but everyone else does.

Your balance will automatically be applied towards the next month's challenge unless you tell us before the end of the month that you would like to cash out. The more you put in and the longer you continue completing the challenge each month, the more you win!

What is Considered a Workout?

We are not going to force you to do any crazy workouts. The purpose of this challenge is to help you develop healthy habits that you can maintain for a lifetime, which is why we only require proof of at least three workouts per week.

We recommend working out forty-five minutes to an hour, hard enough to get your heart rate up. Weightlifting with a personal trainer is ideal as it is hard to beat, but anything that gets your heart pumping hard and challenges your muscles for an extended period can work. Be sure to use routines that challenge different muscle groups for best results.

Click here to download the physical activity guidelines for Americans as recommended by the government. Here are a few ideas for activities. If you're sweating hard by the end of the workout, it'll count. If you're not quite sure if your workout would count, ask a fit friend if they'd consider it good exercise. If you're really not sure, it's not a workout. Don't cheat yourself!

** If you did not take a photo and post it per the rules, we will not count the workout for this challenge. **

Can I Participate for Free?

Feel free to do the challenge and join our group, but without registering you will not be tracked, appear on the scoreboard, or have the chance to earn money. This is an accountability group. If you participate without paying there is no accountability.

Can You Explain Teams?

While this is an individual challenge and only individuals earn money, we encourage you to find some workout buddies and compete as a team. Teams are used to help organize the event and earn points based on all members of the team. You are also more likely to stick with your fitness habit if you work out with friends. You need a minimum of four people for a team, but it could be an entire gym. If you don't have a team you will be placed in the Personal Growth Channel team and can form or join another team later if you wish.

A team captain or captains should be appointed when you form a new team. The team captain sends in an email at the end of each week noting who completed the challenge. Each individual member must still follow the rules. To help ensure fairness, we will be spot checking results and any teams found cheating may be kicked out of the challenge and funds for all team members forfeited.

If you are creating a team, please email this registration form to

What Photos Count Towards the Challenge?

  • If using Facebook, photos must be posted in our Facebook accountability group
  • Pictures or videos must be posted on three separate days to count for the week.
  • Photos cannot be posted retroactively, meaning you can't post on Monday and say it was for last week or post three on Sunday and say they were for earlier in the week.
  • The photo must not be an exact duplicate from a previous day.
  • If posting a photo with multiple people, you must tag each individual in the picture for them to get credit.
  • Photo must be of you in work out clothes in the gym or doing highly physical activity.
  • Please label photos workout #1, #2, #3 to help organizers.
  • Alternatively you may tag us on Twitter or Instagram in photos with @growth_channel #tpgcworkout or email them to

We reserve the right to reject or accept photos at our discretion. For example, a screenshot from an app that shows your workout along with the date and time stamp is likely to be accepted even though it technically isn't of you, whereas a video of you doing curls with a cheeseburger might be funny, but would probably be rejected.

How Do I Get My Money?

To withdraw earned funds email and let us know that you would like to cash out at the end of the month. You will automatically be entered in the next month's challenge using your balance unless you tell us in advance that you would like to opt out. This is an accountability challenge, so no quitting mid-month without penalty!!!

What is Considered a Week?

Weeks are figured as Monday-Sunday (CST). Only full weeks during the month count towards the challenge. Weeks that span the end of one month and the beginning of the next month do not count.

What About Cheating?

Cheaters will forfeit all funds and be kicked out, we will be looking for things like duplicate photos. If you suspect someone is cheating, please report this immediately.

While we don't recommend taking time off as it is easy to get out of the habit of working out, partial weeks during the month do not count towards the challenge. See the question, "What is a week?" above.

What If I Get Hurt?

You are solely responsible for ensuring that you are working out safely and that you are medically released to do so. Here are a few tips to help avoid injury.
  • Don't overdo it. You should be sweating by the end of your workout, but don't go from sitting on the couch to working out seven days a week for hours every day. You'll burn yourself out, and without time to recover, your body will be more prone to injury.
  • At the beginning of your work out warm up with a light weight for 15-20 reps for 2-3 sets.
  • Start with a light weight. You should be able to just barely complete 10-12 reps with your weight for 2-3 rounds. Over time you can progressively increase the resistance to keep yourself challenged.
  • Get someone to check your form. We recommend starting with a personal trainer or at least have someone watch you at the gym. Bad form leads to injury.
  • Work out all muscle groups throughout the week. It is possible to strengthen one area to the point where you have a muscle imbalance which can cause pain so switch it up.
  • Stretch out at the end of your workout.
  • Do not continue to work out a muscle that is in pain, some soreness is normal, pain is not. Try working a different area of your body and use a lighter weight next time.
  • Seek a doctor's help if the pain is severe.
  • Be careful when taking photos. For example, taking a picture while riding your bike is a bad idea.
We are not responsible for any injuries incurred. If you are injured and need to pause the challenge, please contact us at Please note that you may be asked to provide a doctor's note.
