Edge into Darkness to Release Your Fears

My wife and I have spent about a month in our current location in upstate New York.

We live nestled beside a forest.

This is not a deep forest but enough green spans the surrounding countryside that bear, coyotes, deer, great horned owls and bald eagles live in the mountains.

Last month, you could not have paid me to walk into the forest at night. The pitch black path scared the heck out of me.

But slowly and surely, I edged into the darkness of the forest every few nights. My wife and I just walked about 20 minutes through the woods in not quite pitch black conditions but dark enough to stumble without the flash light shining.

How did we overcome our fear?

We edged into the darkness a little bit more each day.

Edge into the Darkness

What aspects of your life seem dark and scary? What intimidates you? Who intimidates you? Edge into the darkness one baby step at a time. Slowly but surely, inching into darkness allows you to release your fears.

Do you fear nudging into the darkness of critical, negative strangers? Write and self-publish an eBook to goad these folks out of the woodwork.

I feared receiving negative feedback until my first biting 1 star review. Reading the review felt bad at first but I quickly saw the mirror effect in play. I wrote a simple, helpful eBook 100% fulfilling on the title-promise based on my experiences as a blogger. Anyone who believed I did not write a simple, helpful eBook 100% fulfilling the title-promise had a severe problem with themselves because their criticism is a projection that has nothing to do with me.

Voila! What seemed dark and scary at first allowed me to see the light of truth but only because I wrote eBooks and actually received negative reviews.

No one ever conquers fear by refusing to edge, inch and nudge into the darkness.

Baby Step

Baby step into darkness. Attempting to take a quantum leap into darkness only ends in a terrible experience.

Simply observe anyone who pushes their way onto the scene through manipulative methods way too quickly. After receiving their 15 minutes of fame these individuals literally get laughed off of the stage based on the collective mocking and outright horrible criticism of the masses.

Meanwhile, people who slowly, steadily and gradually nudge into darkness systematically face, feel and conquer fears in organic, natural fashion.

I developed the confidence, clarity and trust in self to do a live interview for a radio host with 60 syndicated markets across the United States. I nailed it but only because I organically, slowly and patiently nudged into my shadows to conquer a litany of deep fears over many years before doing the live interview in front of a massive audience.

Imagine if I tried to force the interview and fooled someone into believing I was some confident star through manipulative methods? I would have bombed and been humiliated in front of a national radio audience.

Baby step your way into darkness to conquer fears slowly, steadily and organically.

Become more fearless by exhibiting patience and persistence in conquering your fears.
