Life Coach Gives His Definition of Success

The young man I have been coaching asked me this question this morning. “How would you define success?”

I had to think for a moment. This is a question I’ve visited many times over the years. At different points in my life, I would have defined it in different ways. Today, my answer was relatively brief, yet I think it may be the best one I’ve found.

My definition of success is to ask yourself this question. “If today was your last day, would you be happy with how you’ve lived your life and the legacy you’re leaving behind?” If the answer is yes, you are successful.

“If today was your last day, would you be happy with how you’ve lived your life and the legacy you’re leaving behind?”

It doesn’t matter how much money you have in the bank, how many friends you have, what your business is doing, or any other outside factor. Success is a personal thing, it’s why everyone you ask will have a different definition. At the end of the day, it’s what you think that counts.

It all boils down to if you are happy with your life and the legacy you’re leaving behind. What are you doing to work towards your version of success?
