Which direction are you going?

I've been running this personal growth and development site for a few years now, and we now have thousands of visitors every day. With the increase in traffic, it has become quite obvious to me that there are essentially two types of people in the world when it comes to growth.

The First Type?

They blame others for their problems. They complain about their relationships, money problems, or the fact that they are getting fat, but they don't DO anything about it that they stick with. They quit when things get a little tough. They might grow a little, but only after they hit rock bottom and are forced to.

They browse an article here and there but don't really DO anything with it. They don't subscribe to these types of sites. They don't take advice well. They don't read. They don't take courses. They think they know it all. They complain about paying a few bucks for something that could put literally thousands of dollars EVERY YEAR in their pocket. They rarely even click through to read the full articles.

Their lives typically don't get much better than where they are at today. In fact, their lives typically get much worse over time as they slide back down the hill.

The Second Type?

They are hungry to grow. They ask for advice. They dive in. They click through and read the full article on things they are interested in. They take courses. They read the recommended books.

They realize that knowledge builds up over time and that just like you can't go to the gym for two weeks and expect to be in peak shape, you can't expect to read one book or one article and expect to do great things. They actually apply what they learn. They stick with things and don't quit.

I get emails from this second type saying things like:

“Thank you so much, I just got a huge raise at work today after taking the Entire MBA in One Course class that you suggested and applying what I learned!!! It was a lot of hard work, but you were right, it paid off!!!”

“Thanks for keeping me motivated, I've lost 20 lbs since I joined after taking the Weight Loss Mastery Course!!!

“I absolutely loved ScreamFree Marriage, thanks so much for the recommendation! You saved my marriage, thank you thank you thank you!!! My relationship with my husband has never been better!”

The most interesting thing?

There is VIRTUALLY NO DIFFERENCE between these two types OTHER THAN A CHOICE!!!

These people made the choice that they didn't want a mediocre life just getting by. They don't want to merely survive, they want to thrive. YOU have that choice.

For those of you who are already showing up and stepping up, I applaud you. You are on your way to doing truly amazing things in your life.

For the rest of you, you've been challenged. What choice will you make?

Will you make a commitment right now, and start being intentional about working hard towards a better life? Or will you keep on browsing, looking for the fast and easy solution? It's your choice.

One theme runs through successful, happy people who I observe: this lot seems lucky but simply moves through life non-resistant to their passions and fears. Think about it; icons speak of following your passion no matter what. The great Steve Jobs advised doing so because he noted how logical people quit, results suggesting that ventures

Luck or Non-Resistance?
