“How's your week been?”

I've been struggling on how to answer that question this week.

Do I go with the standard with a smile “Good, how about you”?

Do I unload on some unlucky stranger and tell them about my basement being flooded with sewage from a backup with minimal insurance coverage (stupid me) after this happening a little over a year ago, flat tire on my van, me getting sick after ripping out molding drywall and flooring myself, sick kids, losing a sales rep at work, the jar falling and shattering our stove top, or the bathroom fix gone awry?

Or do I focus on the positive and tell them all the amazing things that have happened?

Do I tell them about the adventures we had while white water rafting including rescuing a girl thrown from her raft and pitching one of our own guys overboard who came up laughing with memories to last for a lifetime?

Do I tell them about helping to lead a group of 194 teenagers for a week through a life changing experience?

Do I tell them about the up till 3AM life changing conversations with an amazing group of guys at CIY Move?

Do I show them the picture of me and one of my guys laughing as we accidentally ending up with matching loud 70's disco shirts for 70's night?

Do I tell them about coming home to hugs and kisses from my 5 kids and wife?

Do I tell them about the great evening walks talking about life with my daughters?

Listen, here's the deal.  You can choose to focus on the negative in your life.  It will always be there, and it is incredibly easy to focus on.  Or you can choose to focus on the positive in your life.  It will always be there too.

It is your choice on what to focus on.  This week, I'm going to fix what I can today, be thankful and focus on the positive things in my life, and enjoy the wonderful life I've been given.  How about you?
