Last week, I reported that I was finally back in the healthy zone after losing 9lbs in 5 weeks. My final target is to maintain my weight around 160-165lbs, so I've still got a bit to go, but I've been feeling pretty good about the fact that I'm back into the healthy zone. Maybe a bit too good.
For those of you just joining, I've been documenting my journey back to health in this series. If you want to start from the beginning, here's where I started: Getting back to healthy: Time to get back to the basics!
This week has been a wash for me. I lost 0.2lbs, so didn't gain anything at least, but that's essentially no change from last week. I've got some excuses, but ultimately I feel like I took my eye off the ball which unfortunately is pretty easy to do especially after coming off a win last week.
I've started taking some medicine this week which has some potentially nasty side effects, one of which is gaining weight. Hopefully I can avoid that particular side effect with some dedication, but Saturday I was down for the count after taking it Friday. Dizzy and feeling like I hadn't slept in 24 hours, all I could do was sleep. Luckily my wonderful wife took the kids to grandma's for a project and allowed me to have a lazy day in bed.
Sunday was a bit better, with only a slight lingering headache and some drowsiness, but controlling my eating wasn't really on my mind. Half a pizza later, I gained back my mid week weight loss. Weekend disaster on repeat in this series.
I did eat pretty healthy most of the week though, with some of my better meals being my tuna and yogurt combo that I've grown fond of. I didn't eat much in the way of veggies unfortunately other than some broccoli, and I think that hurt my efforts. High protein food like fish and low calorie sides like green beans, corn, and broccoli has been where I've lost most of the weight through the weeks.
I logged my diet the majority of the time in myfitnesspal.com, continued my daily walks with the dog, and worked out on my Total Gym nearly every day.
This coming week is going to be a challenge. I'm heading out for a business trip for several days, and I know there will be ample opportunity for me to overeat. We'll see how it goes, make sure you're signed up for my emails and I'll let you know!
